Numerology assigns numbers to letters of your name and digits of your birth date, then reduces them to a single digit (with master number exceptions for 11, 22, 33). The calculator uses the Pythagorean system, the most common Western numerology method, returning your Life Path, Destiny, Soul Urge, and Personality numbers.
What is Numerology Calculator?
Numerology is an old practice — Pythagoras, the Greek mathematician, is credited with the system used in the calculator (though similar ideas existed in ancient Babylon, India, and Greece independently). It treats numbers 1-9 as having symbolic meanings, mapped to letters of the alphabet (A=1, B=2, ... I=9, J=1, K=2, ... cycling through). Reduce any compound number by adding its digits until you have a single digit.
Life Path Number comes from your full date of birth. Destiny Number is calculated from all letters in your full birth name. Soul Urge uses only vowels (your inner desires, in numerology lore). Personality uses consonants (how others perceive you).
Master numbers — 11, 22, 33 — are not reduced. They are considered intensified versions of their base (11 → master version of 2). Rare in birth dates; somewhat more common in name reductions.
Important: numerology has no scientific basis for predicting personality or fate. The calculator computes the numbers correctly per the Pythagorean system, but the interpretations attached to them are cultural and traditional, not empirical.
Pythagorean letter values
The Pythagorean system maps the 26 letters to 1-9 in a cycle. Add the values for your name (or relevant letters), then reduce to a single digit unless the result is 11, 22, or 33.
- Life Path
- From DOB—sum the digits of your full date of birth, reduce
- Destiny
- From full name—sum letters of your full birth name
- Soul Urge
- From vowels only—sum only the vowel letters (a, e, i, o, u)
- Personality
- From consonants only—sum only the consonant letters
How to use this calculator
Two inputs: your full birth name and your date of birth.
Enter your full birth name
Use the name on your birth certificate. Nicknames and married names produce different numbers but are not the traditional 'Destiny' number.
Enter your date of birth
Used for Life Path Number. The calculator returns the reduced single-digit (or master number).
Read the four numbers
Life Path (from DOB), Destiny (full name), Soul Urge (vowels only), Personality (consonants only). Each carries traditional symbolic meaning in numerology.
