Math

What's here

Percentage calculator (X is what % of Y, X% of Y, percent change), ratio (simplify, scale, compare), discount (final price after percentage off), tip (split bill across diners), average (mean, median, mode of a list).

Date and age — exact age in years/months/days, date difference, future/past date offset. Useful for school admission age (a separate calculator with India-specific cutoff dates), retirement countdown, and other life-event planning.

When to use these

Most everyday math calculations are simple but error-prone — humans are bad at percentage arithmetic, especially when retail discounts compound or change reference points. The calculator does the math reliably; you focus on understanding the result.

All calculators here run in the browser, no signup required. Bookmark the most-used ones (percentage, age) for instant access from your phone.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate a discount?

Discounted price = original price × (100 − discount %) / 100. Example: 30% off ₹2,500 = ₹2,500 × 70 / 100 = ₹1,750. The discount calculator handles compound discounts (10% + further 5%), GST add-on, and final-price-to-original-price reverse calculation.

How is age calculated exactly?

Age = current date minus birth date, expressed as completed years, then remaining months, then remaining days. The age calculator uses calendar arithmetic (not 365-day approximations), so leap years, varying month lengths, and end-of-month edge cases are handled correctly.

What's the difference between mean, median, and mode?

Mean is the arithmetic average (sum ÷ count). Median is the middle value when sorted. Mode is the most frequent value. They give different answers when data is skewed — for income, the mean is pulled high by outliers, but the median better represents 'typical'. The average calculator computes all three.

How is the school admission age calculated?

Indian schools typically have an age cutoff date (usually April 1 or June 1 depending on state board), and require the child to be a minimum age (usually 5+ for Class 1) on that date. The school admission age calculator handles state-specific cutoffs and tells you the exact age at admission.
